Tina nodded to the waitress in agreement as Artie ordered for them and then turned her attention back to him when the waitress scurried off. She reached over and took Artie’s hand again and traced  little shapes in it with her thumb.

“I’m really glad we won the gift card, I like being here with you, Artie.”

Artie loved the feeling of having Tina’s thumb rubbing against his hand. She was so gentle. “I love being anywhere with you, Tina.” he said, smiling up at her again. He took his free hand to feel his pocket, where Tina’s surprise was. He thought of showing it to her then, but he wasn’t sure that it was the right time. He decided to wait a little longer before giving it to her.

Tina smiled at Artie, she didn’t know how an amazing guy like him had came to love her after all she had done to him. Even after she broke his heart to date Mike he still took her back even though she didn’t deserve it. He was beyond amazing in her eyes.

Tina looked into Artie’s piercing blue eyes and squeezed his hand. “I love you, Artie.”

Tina was savoring Artie’s touches tonight, he was being so gentle and focusing so much on them tonight. It’s not like he didn’t he focus on her when he was with her but tonight some how felt different to her. She smiled at him in response to his touch.

“Yeah let’s go ahead and order. I’m hungry.”

Artie gave Tina another smile. He was glad that she was happy to be with him tonight, and really liked how loving they were treating each other. Hating the fact that he had to stop looking at Tina, Artie began to gaze around the restaurant for a waitress. Once the waitress saw that he was looking at her, she quickly made her way over to their table. “Hey, what can I get you two tonight?” she asked, pulling out a notepad. “Can we get an Alfredo plate? We are planning to share it” he said, looking back at Tina.

“That sounds awesome, we would match well and don’t worry I learned my lesson about dyeing drunk. The smell of the dye can be disgusting enough but being so far gone the smell is nauseating.” Tina said grinning at Artie and taking his hand.

Artie laughed a little, remembering how much fun and work it was to turn his hair blue. He also remembered how nice it was to fall asleep and wake up next to Tina, before he threw up. “Yeah, that was a pretty gross smell.” he said, moving his finger on the edge of her hand. “So, should we order now?”

Tina laughed as Artie swung her hand, he looked so cute when he playfully teased her like this and laughed. She squeezed his hand when he laid their hands on the table.

“No, I didn’t think I had a chance but I had to try.” Tina said grinning at him. She loved to play fully teasing him right back. “But I’ll defintly do it again after Nationals if you’ll let me. How about we take it one step further though. Not just you bangs but the tips of your hair?” She  knew he’d say no but she was gonna suggest it anyway.

Artie ran his free hand through his hair, licking his lips and thinking. He looked over at Tina, who looked like she was enjoying herself, both the date and their conversation. “I don’t think I could rock the whole head blue look.” Artie thought up a plan, and smiled. “How about after Nationals we both dye the tips of our hair? Except, let’s not use the dye while drunk.”

Tina watched Artie scan the menu patiently, noticing the blue in his bangs was starting to fade and smiled a bit more remembering how much he begged her not do to dye them. She knew he had to be more thrilled for them to go back to normal. She was tiny bit disappointed they weren’t  as bright as before but  only a tiny bit because she found him hot with or with out blue in his bangs.

“Chicken Alfredo sounds good to me and I know we both love it so it works, Artie.” Tina said giving him a smile. “By the way I am gonna need to dye these again for you? The blue is fading.” she said reaching over to play with his bangs lightly.

Artie couldn’t fight his smile when Tina started to fiddle around with his bangs. He remembered the night Tina dyed them for him at Jesse’s, and how they both were so tipsy that they could barely even make it into the bathroom. Still smiling, Artie reached up for Tina’s hand and swayed it back and forth before it reached the table again. “Do you really think I’m going to let you dye my bangs again?” he said, laughing. “I love the blue on you, though. Maybe after Nationals I’ll give it another shot.”

Tina loved being here like this with Artie, just how their hands seemed to fit together like puzzle pieces and how loving Artie was looking at her. It just confirmed that he was  the guy for her, everything seemed to fit so perfectly with him. She lifted their hands to her lips and kissed his hand gently before glancing at the the menu. “Yeah, let share something. Any of the dinners look good to you, Artie?”

Artie grinned when Tina kissed his hand. It was one of those cute things that she did, that just made him feel so special. Still smiling, Artie took another glance at the menu. “Hmm… Well, I heard that the salads here aren’t very good, so maybe not that.” Artie flipped the page and saw something he thought Tina might like. “How about something… noodle-y? Like Chicken alfredo?”

Tina watched Artie scan the menu patiently, noticing the blue in his bangs was starting to fade and smiled a bit more remembering how much he begged her not do to dye them. Tina smiled at Artie as he took her hand. She hadn’t realized that she made her cautious watching over him that visible but she was glad that he didn’t mind. She was was always worried he found that she was too protective of him or that she didn’t believe he could do things on his own.

“I love you too, Artie.” Tina said as she squeezed his gently. “So what do you want to order tonight?

Artie let hid fingers fall between Tina’s, so theirs hands fit perfectly together. He let his head fall into his other hand, so he could look at Tina better, just loving her so much. She just made him feel so safe, and that nobody could break apart what they have. Nothing could come between them again. Biting his lip slightly, he reached over to a menu and started turning pages. “How about we share something?”

My aunt was diagnosed with breast and liver cancer 2 years ago and she was really close to remission until last week. She was having side pain and they found out the medicine she was on wasn’t working so they are putting her back on chemo. It’s a really hard blow for her and my family me included. So just be patient with me I am kinda a mess right now.

Artie gave the booth a second glance. “I think I can make it.” he said, grinning confidently towards Tina. He was quite glad that Tina was so understanding when it came to dodging the obstacles that came with the chair.

“Okay Artie.” Tina said with a smile, she knew they had concerns that most couples didn’t have to worry about, wheelchair ramps where there are stairs or a elevator but Tina loved Artie beyond it all. She leaned down and kissed him lightly before heading over to the booth.

Artie wasn’t quite sure why Tina had kissed him, but he wasn’t complaining. He kissed her back gently and smiled as they booth moved towards the booth. Artie moved his chair right next to the bench seat and began to shuffle himself out of his wheelchair. He looked over at Tina, and noticed she was watching him closely. He didn’t mind it, he knew she just didn’t want him to get hurt, and he was really thankful that she cared that much about him. He smiled when he sat down and looked at his date. “Thanks. For watching out for me.” He reached over the table to take her hand. “I love you.”

Artie looked around Breadstix for a place they could sit down together. He looked up at Tina again, who was also searching around the restaurant for a place to eat. Smiling at her, he began looking around and saw an empty booth. “How about there?” he said, pointing at the empty space.

Tina glanced over at the booth. “I don’t see a empty space for you to pull up to. Is it low enough for you to slide into, Artie?” she asked a bit concerned. Usally they sat at a table with the chair removed. She didn’t want to make a big deal about it.

Artie released Tina’s hand before beginning to fumble with the brake on his chair and rolling down the ramp that his dad lowered for him. He thanked his dad, and told him when to come and get them again. His father knew his plan for later and winked at him, before driving off. Artie quickly made his way back to Tina. “Thanks for waiting. Let’s head inside.”

“No problem, Artie. I am used to it now.” Tina said as she leaned down and kissed his cheek as they walk in to Breadstix. She was glad to be able to come here again with him, she missed being here with him. “Where should we sit Artie?”

Artie gave a shy smile when he saw Tina blush. He could go on about how pretty she was every second if he could, but his surprise would say everything for him. When she reached over and played with his blue bangs, Artie felt himself smile even larger. “Thanks Tina.” He rubbed his thumb against the back of her hand. He was looking deep into Tina’s eyes when he realized the car was parked in front of Breadstix. “Oh. We’re here. Ready?”

“Yeah, I’m ready Artie” Tina said as she gently squeezed his hand before climbing out of the van giving him a sweet smile as she waited for his dad to unload him. She remembered the first time she watched this, it was so awkward for both of them but now it was just a normal part of their relationship. It didn’t even phase her half the time that he was in a wheelchair.

Artie straightened his tie a little before rolling into his living room, to ask his dad how he looked. When his dad said he looked fine, he rolled back into his room and grabbed his wallet, that had the card for dinner in it. He also grabbed a plastic bag, to store some extra breadsticks for…

Tina gave herself one final look in the mirror when she heard the honk, brushing her hair behind her ears. Little Nilla yipped when he heard the honk and was scratching at the front door anxiously. “No Nilla, you can’t come this time.” she said with a laugh as she pet his head before heading out the door. When Tina got in the van, she leaned over and kissed Artie’s cheek. “Sorry about making you wait, Nilla seemed to want to be the third wheel on our date.” she said giving Artie a smile.

Artie was tapping his hands on his knees, waiting when he saw Tina running down her driveway, looking as beautiful as ever. When she hopped in and kissed his cheek, Artie gave her a giant smile. “It’s ok. I’m just glad you’re here now.” He reached over and gently took Tina’s hand, once she put her seatbelt on and the car began to move. “I have the card right here, and I called earlier and reserved a table.” He looked at Tina once again, and couldn’t help but smile.  “You look really pretty tonight, Tina.”

Tina blushed a tiny bit at that although he had told her that almost 100 times before but at the fact they were going on a real date, something they hadn’t done since  prom made it more special to her.. She looked over  into Artie’s eye, staring into his piercing blue eyes.

“Thanks, Artie.” she reached over and smoothed his hair with her free hand. “You look really good tonight too.”
